I get annoyed by these guys who come in asking $100… The buy price is more than doubled after the expert… Instead of being grateful for the free (to them not to the shop) expert appraisal they demand much more… Should have let that watch radio guy walk.

I bought a radio kit once that all you had to do was stick these two probes into a potato. I would put the earpiece in and the potato in my shirt pocket and walk down my street or ride my purple Stingray down the street.
In the 1960s we had to use our imagination.
I like Chum.
But when he was a kid the machine told him what to do.
No imagination required.

In 1980 I worked at a state park in iowa. A friend of mine who was 30 years old put a shortwave radio in his car. You needed a license back then but he did not have one. This was like a 1975 pinto. He went back to the trunk and extended a 30-foot antenna up into the air. And we would sit on a hill in the park at night talking to places like Russia and China on the shortwave radio. But he would only stay on for about 30 minutes so the authorities would not come and find him.
I had a 9 volt transistor radio when I was a kid. It just had AM back in those days. But late at night I would lay in bed and have it under my pillow and listen to the Grand Old Opera. I was supposed to be sleeping. Never got caught either. Now that I'm 72, I can confess to all the bad stuff I did as a kid that my parents didn't know about.

I bought a cardboard submarine once out of a comic book. Sea monkeys too. You can teach them all kinds of tricks!! Mine all died after about a week though. Didn't even have time to teach them to sit or fetch.
That first segment…. The sub-marine was just panels of cardboard with stencils on them, that parents had to assemble for their kids.
