That’s a 2K to 3K helmet today, a legit WW1 5th Marine Regiment helmet. That helmet is a solid “one-looker” original.
A lot of “should never leave the family” stuff. These items are often better with collectors, who will preserve the history and honor and cherish the item. Grandpa would probably be chuffed that someone down the line made some money to gamble out of his old helmet. Grandpa survived and got to live and have a family, I’m sure that was far more important to him than it being sold 100 years later.
Kidding me. I would have walked out with that helmet. A marine collector would have a couple of grand for that.
From a collector's view, I'd have kept the cut off flag, and all the helmets. I collect one of a kind's and wouldn't sell any for any amount. Nice items shown though.

What phases me, if this show is not 100% staged, is that people walk in wanting a couple hundred for something they find out is authentic and is worth thousands… then they still sell it TO A PAWN SHOP.
Go and take it to a collector or auction and let the history enthusiasts give you way more money for it.
Im not a hoarder, but these items never seem to have went to the right family member. Id cherish this stuff
