The saw bayonet was standard issue in WW1 for… sawing wood. It stopped production when the allies accused the Germans of "Gut Ripping Blades".
Strange comment about bayonets. "Still issued to US Marines today." They are still issued to every military on the planet today. Why specify the US Marines?

My father was a WWII vet and passed some of his items to me. I donated the items in his name to the WWII museum in New Orleans. I would NEVER take money for them.
