According to a report in Emmen, Netherlands— NL TimesMore than 3,000 artefacts were recovered during environmental work in the Nieuwe Drostendeep stream valley in the northeastern part of the Netherlands. Objects include tools from the Palaeolithic and Bronze Age; Medieval jewelery and ornaments from the 2nd century BC; and materials from the Eighty Years’ War and World War II, fought in the sixteenth century. In particular, archaeologists found a gold ring dating back to the 3rd or 4th century Advertisement and a fibula from the tenth or eleventh century Advertisement “We are proud of the rich history of our beautiful and unique landscape. These remarkable discoveries further emphasize this value,” commented Provincial Executive Member Yvonne Turenhout. The objects are being cleaned and conserved, and will be put on public display.
