Huseyn Uzunoglu of Akdeniz University reported that this is the first time that the cult of Demeter Karpophoros has been identified in the region of Phrygia. Two funerary poems are inscribed on a statue dedicated to two men considered comrades in the Roman army. Another funerary inscription commemorating Mandana, a high priestess, was erected by her husband. Uzunoglu reports that women sometimes shared the priesthood with their husbands, but were also able to hold such positions independently.
