My dad and I this show so much when I was a kid. When my parents got married, we took a family trip out west and visited the pawn shop in Vegas. That was the first expectations vs reality experience I’d ever had. There were cardboard cutouts in the back with the main characters and otherwise it was just packed with other tourists looking around

How do you cram 21 seasons into 2009-2024? This narrator has some strange linguistic quirks. For H-B-O, she says haytch bee oh, and "pone" for pawn, for example.

Boy is this true. I saw an episode where the pawn stars claimed a poster that Lincoln would be at Ford Theatre on the night he was assassinated was false because nobody knew he would be there. Here is the article from that days Washington newspaper that morning, Friday April 14, 1865:
"LIEUT. GENERAL GRANT, PRESIDENT and Mrs. Lincoln have secured the State Box at Ford's Theater TO NIGHT, to witness Miss Laura Keane's American Cousin."
This was confirmed in Shelby Foote's three volume narrative of the Civil War. Mrs. Grant backed out of attending because she did not get along with Mrs. Lincoln. So Lincoln invited one of the Army captains at the White House. Also how did John Wilkes Booth know to have a horse waiting outside in back of the Ford's Theatre to make good his escape if nobody knew.

Kinda boring to be honest.
Imagine being able to buy a shop in Vegas for $5k. Lolol it’s almost that for first last and security on a basic apartment these days. Even if it was just a down payment, still insane.
American dream as they say… it’s dead. Or it was never what they made it out to be, because a lot of Americans have a dream life. Just not most of us.
I can't believe the boyfriend and I wasted evenings watching this garbage on the History Channel and the like. Started with Deadliest Catch and it was all downhill watching crap like this for a little over 3 years. That was a unique microcosm in cable—the beginning of the end. We didn't get into things like the talent or kiddie reality shows. We lost interest at the start of like Storage Wars. Pawn Stars for us was tolerable because it was only 30 minutes. Sometimes it was an hour and we couldn't watch these guys for that long. These guys are only good for short bursts with commercials. I think we're drawn in by the “poor wh*te tr*sh” appeal. That sounds so bad— but hey—they got paid.🤷♀️

I don’t like to sound kinda DEI left wing but I didn’t see much Asians on the show as sellers. Maybe Asians especially the Chinese, are notoriously good at selling goods and negotiating or they’ve already sold whatever they brought from the old country.
I lived in Vegas before the show ended up on TV, I lived about 6 blocks from the store, I went into the store one day, and there was me and another person in the shop. Then the show aired, so I decided to stop in the shop again and it was so crowded you could barely move. Still in Vegas but done with Gold and Silver Pawn.
What a bunch of BS garbage.
