Skate boarding actually took off in So-Cal circa 1962. Not the seventies as stated. I know, I was there. I remember getting a Makaha solid ash skateboard with Chicago clay wheels for my birthday in 1964. When i moved to British Columbia in 1966 nobody even knew what it was.
