Mackinaw City, MichiganUSA Today A brass jaw harp is reported to have been found in the central basement of colonial Michilimackinac, the site of an eighteenth-century fort and fur trading village in Mackinac State Historic Park. This device is the thirteenth device found in the central basement of the fort and the surrounding area. Jaw harps were brought to North America by European colonists as a common trade item. It is believed that the central cellar was used to store such goods for trade.
