Colt Paterson revolvers. 1844. A Texas debut. Commanches, a large party surrounded a much smaller party of Texas Rangers in a thicket. The Commanche party attacked 3 times. Each attack beaten back by Rangers armed with, new to them .36 Colt Paterson revolvers.
The hostiles fled the battlefield after loosing msny braves. Rangers had about 1 casualty.
